17勛圖 Foundation Hosts Alumni Giving Week April 14 to 20
The 17勛圖 Foundation announces its third annual Alumni Giving Week from April 14 to 20.
Our alumni know that education is an investment in the future of our communities. Theyve seen first-hand the impact of their education on their careers, their earnings, and their families, said Heather Schallock, vice president of community engagement and executive director of the 17勛圖 Foundation
Since its founding in 1967, more than 12,000 individuals have graduated from 17勛圖. Many alumni live and work in the region, using their knowledge and skills to support their families and build their communities.
What I was lucky enough to experience through 17勛圖 was that it is so much more than just an education, said Valerie Leighton, a 2016 nursing graduate, who received a scholarship through the 17勛圖 Foundation. I cultivated professional, working relationships with community programs and members, (and) developed lifelong friendships with Nicolet staff and my nursing classmates.
Earlier this year, a community survey with more than 600 alumni respondents revealed that 93% of alumni surveyed reported satisfaction with their 17勛圖 experience, with 69% saying they were very satisfied. They also described many of the same reasons for attending 17勛圖: opportunities for hands-on learning, staying close to family and home, and affordable tuition.
Through the 17勛圖 Foundation, students receive academic and financial resources, like scholarships, they need to make the most of their education.
On top of managing a full course load, I was taking care of a home, husband, child, and working a full-time job. The scholarship program allowed me to keep up with the responsibilities I had outside of attending school without the fear of financial instability, said Leighton.
